Marriage of Magicians
Marriage of Magicians is an initiation to the Secret Order of Being a Great Partner. You don't have to be married, and even as an individual you can benefit from this program.
We live in a world of duality. Everything has its opposite. When Cupid strikes, it is with mathematical precision toward a partner that is almost our complete opposite in every way.
Our partners carry the traits that we have disowned in ourselves. We disown certain traits based on our upbringing. We each develop a mask that we wear out into the world. This mask is not actually who we are, but who we think that we are.
It is the goal of a lifetime to figure out who we are underneath that mask, otherwise known as the ego. The Universe linking us up with someone with an opposite version of our mask is like holding up a mirror that exposes our biggest weaknesses.
In the beginning, our differences are fascinating and alluring. But when the realities of life set in, we begin to judge our partner's ways. We climb up on our high horse. We convince ourselves that our way is superior and that all men or women must be the same.
And we do continue to attract people with the same traits until we work on the imbalance within ourselves that is causing the friction in our interpersonal relationships.
You may have already noticed similarities in your current relationship with a past one. (Please note, I am not speaking of abuse; but disagreements, annoyances, and judgments. Abuse has no excuse).
"For there is but one veritable problem - the problem of human relations. We forget that there is no hope or joy except in human relations."- Antoine de Saint
Our partners can be our greatest teachers. They were meant to be our opposites. We can learn from each other and gain balance. In attaining this balance, we let down our defenses, allowing our true selves to emerge.
Completing this program will enhance communication, passion, and joy within your relationship. We will work to help you separate from your ego, not your partner.
Discovering Sub-Personalities
First, we will complete an exercise to discover the primary aspects of you and your partner. We will list all of the ways in which you are opposites.
Next, we will identify the sub-personalities of each of your psyche. We all have an Inner Critic, an Inner Judge, and a Protector/Controller that we have developed to survive in the world.
You will give these different parts unique names so that you can separate them from yours and your partner's aware ego.
Meeting the Inner Children
When the Inner Child is hurt, the army within us lashes out at the other. Now, you will be able to separate yourselves from the warriors of your sub-personality and have more of a sense of humor about the situation.
Next, we go on an inward journey to allow you to recognize how you are perceived by the Inner Child of your partner when you are critical.
The Aware Ego
Together, we visualize how having a "perfect" relationship with no conflicts can become a train wreck, so that you can be more at ease with periodically having disagreements.
We'll work to separate your aware ego, allowing you to not become defensive when your partner makes an observation about your actions, but to realize they are helping you to become more balanced.
Vulnerability is Strength
An energy exercise will be done to help you to notice the subtleties of when your partner has pulled back. We'll discuss how to address this discomfort.
Lastly, we'll go over the importance of noticing when your Inner Child is hurt and how to communicate this to your partner in a loving and peaceful way.
